Fergie Can Rap? London Bridge Lyrics!
I didn’t know Fergie’s new single, London Bridge was a rap song until I watched the very-skanky music video:
The delivery’s a lot smoother than I thought she was capable of, and the song’s decently catchy, if not overly libidinous. AOL Music Blog describes it as:
A wall of sirens and a bass-heavy hip-hop break announce the arrival of Ferg’s first single, taken from her anticipated full-length debut solo album ‘The Dutchess,’ set to drop on Sept. 19.
I was going to link Just Jared for the lyrics, but it turns out they’re wrong. Here’s my version of what Fergie sings in London Bridge:

Of course, some of the grammar seems a little off, unless I heard wrong. Still, that first verse has an impressive punch to it.

The beat from the song is catchy, yet the formulated trumpet gets old fast(much in the same way as the sax in J Lo’s “Get right”).
Fergie’s singing is somewhat dissapointing since we all know she can sing way better then she is in this song. At times I found her voice to sound unisexual. the first time I heard this song I came across it on TV halfway through, and I couldn’t tell if it was a guy or girl singing. The chorus sounds like it came from a remix of Missy Elliot’s “Gossip Folk”.
I find the lyrics to be dumb and mundane, more so then the usual pop/dance song. Obviously whomever wrote the lyrics suffers from the gradeschool belief that if it’s a poem/song, everything’s gotta rhyme, as long as it sounds the same, it doesn’t matter what it says! But I guess I can’t complain too much… It could have been “My Humps Pt2″. And hey, maybe I’m looking too far into it. after all, it’s not like she’s a great musician who’s music has depth. this is pop music, catchy, mindless drivel who’s purpose it to make you dance. I admit I will be dancing to this song, it’s gonna be stuck in my head, but i’ll be happy when if fades into obscurity in a couple months.
as for the video, meh, it’s generic. it does stand out slightly thanks to the royal guards though, but theres no saving it.
Fergie, I hope you can do better. I agree that you’re a gorgeous woman who can sing and market herself but I want to see more depth.
