Paris Hilton was arrested early Thursday and charged for Driving Under the Influence (DUI). Her blood alcohol level was only .08, right on the minimum under California law. TMZ spoke to Paris Hilton shortly after she was released from police custody:

TMZ spoke with Paris as she was driving home from jail, stopping for Parliament Lights cigarettes en route. She says she “regrets it occurred,” and adds that she has been up for 24 hours, having shot a music video all day. (TMZ had exclusive access to the music video set and our video will be posted in a few hours.) Paris says she had nothing to eat and no rest the entire day.

The photos were captioned by TMZ, “Even after Paris’ hands were locked firmly behind her back, one of the arresting officers continued to keep her arm in a tight grasp.”

   Breatherlyzers are only accurate within 50% meaning that at .08 you could have a blood alcohol anywahere between .04 and .16. The Breatherlyzer proves nothing, and blood alcohol percentage is not proof of impairment. I have seen people pass a field sobriety test and then blow a .37, and I have seen people fall down after having 1 beer. Get off your high horse and grow up America.

   i agree we should be thankful no one got hurt. Also we should be concerned about what kind of message this is ending to those who are lets say “the youth”. Paris hilton did a bad thing set a bad example and theres really no excuse for it.Im glad no one was hurt. Even paris but she deserved getting arrested and to pay all the fines.

   i think that just becuase shes a popstr does not mean she should get away wit having the law mimimum achohol blood level neither should any one else if the cops didnt protect drivers from a drunk driver like paris then they wouldnt stop anybody and the roads would at all times be unsafe and thats why im proud of the police for doind what they did
