LOS ANGELES – NBC has agreed to pay as much as $1 million for Paris Hilton’s first after-jail interview, which will appear on the “Today” show, The Post has learned. Sources told The Post the sit-down will be conducted by Meredith Vieira the day after the heir-head is sprung some time next week. ABC was the front-runner until NBC Universal boss Jeff Zucker personally called Hilton’s father Rick and made the pitch, the sources said. Hilton agreed to the interview, but said she’d only speak with Vieira because of “disparaging” remarks her co-host Matt Lauer made about her.

I mentioned earlier how she can turn any situation into an advantage for herself, making her 40 days in jail worth 500 keys of China white, or 2,000 brand-new iPhones.

Paris Hilton will be serving 23 days in an isolated jail unit in the Lynwood Century Regional Detention Facility for violating her probation. Her lawyer released a statement from her which says:

I am ready to face the consequences of violating probation. During the past few weeks I have had a lot of time to think and have come to realize I made some mistakes. This is an important point in my life and I need to take responsibility for my actions. In the future, I plan on taking more of an active role in the decisions I make. I want to thank my family, friends and fans for their continued support. Although I am scared, I am ready to begin my jail sentence.

Before her stint in jail, Paris spent time at the MTV movie awards, and partying it up. If there’s one thing about this girl, she definitely knows how to turn a minor scandal in good PR for herself!

Don’t be fooled by any of it, though. Apparently, Paris Hilton owns the items in question and is using this “social gossip explosion” as a marketing tool. After all, she clearly has no sense of shame or dignity left, so why not sell herself out to the masses? You can read “her response” to this on her boyfriend’s MySpace page.

TMZ spoke with Paris as she was driving home from jail, stopping for Parliament Lights cigarettes en route. She says she “regrets it occurred,” and adds that she has been up for 24 hours, having shot a music video all day. (TMZ had exclusive access to the music video set and our video will be posted in a few hours.) Paris says she had nothing to eat and no rest the entire day.

According to a press release being passed around, Stars Are Blind is due to be released July 31st:

Paris Hilton’s long-awaited debut single and album releases have been confirmed. The single ‘Stars Are Blind’ is set for a July 31st release date whilst her eponymous album will follow a week later on Warner Bros. Records. Paris Hilton spent two days on a beach in Malibu, California, shooting the video for ‘Stars Are Blind’ with director Chris Applebaum with whom she previously collaborated with for the Carl’s Jr. campaign. Applebaum’s previous music video credits include Rihanna’s ‘S.O.S.’ and Natasha Bedingfield’s ‘Unwritten’.

The song lyrics open, “I don’t mind spending some time / Just hanging here with you / Cause I don’t find too many guys / That treat me like you do.” While no more vapid than regular pop, her voice has been masked with corrections, wispy strings, and other kinds of masking noise. You’ll no more be able to hear the real Paris in all that choir and processing than you could cut the White House lawn with scissors.

The music video adds a little more–Paris Hilton on the beach with a boy all over her. We expected that one, right? Here’s a screengrab, for your edification:
