New 9/11 Movie: World Trade Center
It’s $63,000,000 budget was enough to get director Oliver Stone (Scarface, Platoon, JFK, Alexander) and actor Nicolas Cage on board. The picture, which comes out August 9th, 2006 has gotten good reviews from the NYT:
There is really no other American director who can move so swiftly and emphatically from intimate to epic scale, saturating even quiet moments with fierce emotion. He edits like a maestro conducting Beethoven, coaxing images and sequences into a state of agitated eloquence.
Nick Cage in WTC
Billed as a “true story of courage and survival,” we’d prefer to dub it YA9/11M (Yet Another 9/11 Movie). If you’re into American patriotism, are vigorously conservative, and enjoy high drama, it will probably entertain. Otherwise, movies about terrorist attacks probably serve to just tarnish the historical relevance of the moment by bringing it into the public entertainment arena.

Every time there is an event which requires a response by governments, the conspiracy theorists come out of the woodwork to suggest that the event is the result of some government coverup, or a government plot to accomplish something else. What is it about these wingnuts, that they can’t accept the truth in front of their faces. I have ready many accounts of government conspiracies in regards to the WTC destruction by aircraft, but the one that seems most likely is the truth, the fact that two aircraft so weakened the structure that it collapsed on it’s own weight.
One thing about the truth is that is is imperfect, flawed, and has gaps that no data can fill. One thing I’ve seen in all the conspiracies is that the perpetrators of these conspiracies are people who have previously expoused other conspiracies, in fact they see conspiracies behind every door. Another thing about these conspiracies is that they are inherantly perfect in every detail. THe last thing about most of these theories is that they are almost always perpetrated by Liberal Thinkers aka Democrats who after being unable to grab power in a democratic way are now resorting to trickery, fraud, and character assasination to try to wrest power form the party in power.
I say to all conspiracy theorists, if you spend all your time looking behind every door for a conspiracy, you’ll miss the good stuff that you came in the door to see. You will also be very unhappy. Look around you…..ever seen a happy conspiracy theorist?

2. Santa isn’t real, but we believe in him anyway…(ok..ok..that one is mine).
WTC really happened on September 11, I saw it with my own eyes, and there weren’t any explosions on the ground floor when the building fell to the ground.
If you really believe your conspiracy, there are millions of us who would love to pay your ticket to Afghanistan so you can go try to chat with Osama. I mean heck, if he is really innocent, he surely won’t chop your head off and send it home to your family.You may be his only North American supporter. He’d love to have you on his jury.

I think the reason some people are looking for a 9/11 Conspiracy is because they can’t imagine the real horrors that happened that day. They seek a smaller devil in their own midst, rather than confront the truth, which they cannot control, or fix.
What pisses me off most about these Conspiracy Theorists is that they choose to bring down honorable people rather than blaming the true culprit, a guy who has money, but no honour, a guy who can kill women, children, and innocents, but who won’t come out and fight a fair fight in the open. A guy whose own people hate him, except for a few zelots who would follow anyone. His name is OSAMA.

Hi I live in Ireland. The ex-marine in this movie says he will return to the forces to avenge 9/11. In the credits it displays that he served two tours of duty in Iraq, implying he was avenging the terrorist act. Like everyone else I know who saw the movie I’m wondering how does serving in a country unrelated to 9/11 avenge the act.
